Yikes... The End is Closer Than You Think

I planned to get a lot done with my project this week, but sadly I have not done much. Most of my research is done, so all I really need to do now is look up some things I was confused about, change my URLs to MLA citation on my notes document, and practice what I learned. I also have not taken any pictures this week, which is making me very sad. I had planned to go to the park this weekend because we have not had any heavy rain recently, but my aunt came to visit us on Saturday, and my weekend overall was busy, so I did not have time to go somewhere and take photos. Although, to make up for this, I did make my mother promise to take me to the park sometime this week. I need to have more photos to choose from for my book, but, as I said earlier, I also need to practice what I have learned about how to manipulate a camera to get the best photo. I want to try to implement some of the design techniques I wrote about last week, as well. Another thing I have not been able to get done this week is make a meeting with my mom’s friends who are photographers. For my project, I need to have a primary source for my research, which I do not have so far. Because the due date for this project is coming up relatively soon, I am now planning to analyze a photography exhibit. There is nothing more “primary source” than me documenting my analyzation of something. While just skimming through some searches of online nature or landscape exhibitions, I found a website for a photographer, Elizabeth Carmel, which looks fascinating. Some of her photos on her website are absolutely beautiful, and her photos seem to include what I would ideally photograph, so I think it will be helpful to analyze some of her photos. Signposts: Aha Moment  - Santiago's "aha moment" on page 58 is when  he realizes what he has accomplished and is proud of himself  for it. Even though we know that Santiago has a greater treasure to find, I think it is still important to recognize that he sees what he has accomplished so far as a treasure. He was proud that he learned about crystal, about the wordless language, and about omens, and believed his prize was to be in Africa, to have met the thief, and been able to double his flock without spending any money. As he is thinking about returning home, he even says that he is excited "about the day when he would disembark at Tarifa as a winner" (58). It's Sort of Almost Done

My excitement level is about as high as it can be for someone who has stayed up hours longer than they meant to to finish this project. Because I am not entirely sure how long it will take for my photo book to be created and shipped, I finished it up tonight to (hopefully!!) allow enough time for it to get here. I also needed to make sure I had enough time to make the TedTalk video I sadly have to make once I got it, because I want to not only discuss what I have learned in the video, but also show how I have implemented it. Back to my book... I chose to have an all black background because I thought that it made the colors pop, and there are no embellishments to take away from the details in the photo.There is a total of 36 photos, but 37 if you count my surprise photo at the end that I did not take, it was not part of my project. Section 3: Pages 91 - 127

Signposts: Theme Tracker  - One of the themes in this book is the  interconnectedness of everything.  This is clearly seen on page 92 when Santiago notices that God had been placing the omens in his path, and he says  "he had never thought of them in terms of a language used by God to indicate what he should do" . This theme is seen through this quote as the belief of omens it intertwined with God, and we also see God intertwined with Allah, and omens connected to alchemy and beliefs of people like the camel driver.  Words of the Wise  - One page 106, Santiago receives advice from the camel driver again, but this time the camel driver is also quoting and telling the story of a seer. During this story, the seer says that  "if bad things are [coming], and you know in advance, you will suffer greatly before they even occur" .
